ABRIN 2011 – 28TH BRAZILIAN TOY FAIR SURPASSES EXPECTATIONS IN BUSINESS VOLUME
ENDING ON APRIL 16TH, THE 28TH ABRIN – BRAZILIAN TOY FAIR EXCEEDED THE HISTORICALLY REGISTERED BUSINESS VOLUME. UNTIL 2010, IMMEDIATE AND FUTURE SALES RECORDED AT THE EVENT REPRESENTED 30% OF THE ANNUAL SALES OF THE TOY SECTOR. THIS YEAR, ACCORDING TO ABRINQ – THE BRAZILIAN ASSOCIATION OF TOY MANUFACTURERS, THE FIGURE REACHED 50%. CONSIDERING THAT THE ENTITY PREDICTS SALES OF R$3.5 BILLION IN 2011, THE FAIR SOLD AT LEAST R$1.7 BILLION.
In the evaluation of Synésio Batista da Costa, president of ABRINQ, this result ensures that there will be no layoffs in the sector throughout this year – instead, there is a prediction of 3000 new direct jobs – and that manufacturers’ investments in product launches and plant modernization will continue.
“Since 50% of the business in the sector is already accounted for, it is clear that measures such as the industrial integration with Mercosur and the importation of parts for the majority of domestic manufacturers will happen”, says Costa.
Another mark that ABRIN surpassed this year was the utilization rate of new products launched by the manufacturers. According to the president of ABRINQ, usually out of a total of 1500 product launches, close to 900 actually reach the market; this year, the number should reach 1200 product launches. “This shows that there was a greater clearance in the development of products, with more research and more travel to international events to understand toy trends. It is an indicator that shows the high degree of professionalism in the sector”.
The largest toy far in Latin America and the third largest in the world, ABRIN 2011, promoted by FRANCAL FEIRAS in partnership with ABRINQ – THE BRAZILIAN ASSOCIATION OF TOY MANUFACTURERS, brought together 200 exhibitors in an area of 35,000 square meters at Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo. The event was visited by 16,000 “highly qualified” industry professionals, says the president of Francal Feiras, A.J. Abdala.
